Dr. Alijanipour earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences School of Medicine in Tehran, Iran. He completed his orthopedic residency in Spain, where he received a scholarship from the Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SECOT) and was named a qualified resident for overseas clinical fellowship by the Andalusian Society of Orthopedic Surgery (SATO).
Dr. Alijanipour also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Jefferson School of Medicine, where he was the recipient of the Sigma Xi Research Competition Award. He also completed fellowships at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami. He’s a two-time winner of the Eastern Orthopedic Association’s Resident/Fellow Award.
In his practice, Dr. Alijanipour specializes in degenerative cervical disease, thoracic spine disorders, degenerative lumbar disorders, adult spinal deformity, minimally invasive spinal procedures, ankylosing spondylitis, spinal trauma, and spinal tumors. He’s fellowship-trained at Northwestern University and a board-certified specialist in spinal surgery. Dr. Shepherd is the current medical director of the Spine Care Center and a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
